Maremma Horse Riding

Day 1- Saturday

On arrival, you will be shown to your accommodation for the week. Once you are settled in, you will be introduced to the guides who will talk you through the essential information within the itinerary, including equipment and procedures for the horse riding, after which, they will assign you a horse.

Day 2 – Sunday

On your first day riding, you will be lead through the itinerary of “Romitorio”.

You will be stopping for lunch at the agritourism “Il Moro“, then after crossing the maquis, you will reach a rural area that still retains antic traditions.

Day 3 – Monday

On this day, you will be following the itinerary of “San Rabano”, a stop-off for lunch is scheduled at the abbey of San Rabano, a monastery that dates back to 1000 AD and is one of the greatest monuments of the natural park of Maremma. Reaching this location by horse is like taking a step back in time, admiring some of the most beautiful landscapes of the Maremma.

Day 4 – Tuesday

You will be trekking on a route trough the pine forest, followed by lunch at Marina di Alberese, the afternoon will be spent riding on the beach (subject to park regulations).

Day 5 – Wednesday

You will be joining the Butteri of Alberese on their daily routine with the livestock. The equestrian tradition of Maremma, the figure of the Buttero (cowboy), this ancient trade that survives thanks to its territory.

Lunch will be served back at the farmhouse, followed by a visit to the local cellar where you will be able to taste Maremma’s wine and gastronomic products.

Day 6 – Thursday

On this day, you will be riding through the Collelungo itinerary, visiting both the towers Castelmarino and Collelungo respectively dated 900 and 1100 AD, here lunch will be served and you will benefit from a view that reaches the horizon.

Day 7 – Friday

Portovecchio itinerary takes you through a humid area with typical vegetation and is a refuge for many wild animals. Further along, you will reach a wonderful olive grove centuries old and protected by the Uccellina mountains.

Day 8 – Saturday

You will be leaving the farmhouse by 10:00. Gastronomic gifts produced by the farmhouse will be given to each client.
