At Podere Vignola, you will find four wonderful apartments finely furnished and endowed with all the creature comforts. Guests can benefit from the use of the swimming pool and each apartment has direct access to the garden and has a veranda for lunches and dinners “al fresco” style.

During the restructuring of the farmhouse in the 80s, a few dated stones were found. The oldest stone is dated around 1500, while other parts of the structure were added in the 200 years that followed. It was quite common for even ancient houses to be extended (or somehow changed) during the course of the years to suit the needs of large families and livestock that inhabited them.

The apartment called “Giardino” was once the cellar, being one of the coolest parts of the house and was also used as a fridge and storage room for olive oil, wine, cheese and cured meats. The roof of this apartment has been maintained with the characteristic vaults made in local bricks, as used in the original construction.

The “Fienile” apartment was once, like today, divided in two levels. In the lower level, cows and horses were kept, while on the upper level, hay was stored for the winter and a little stable for the goats was set in a corner with an exit over the yard.

Where the barbecue area is today was once the shelter for the agricultural machinery.

The apartment Torretta is largely unchanged from what it used to be. The fireplace is wide enough to fit chairs or benches because, in the past, the heating was non-existent making the rooms cold and drafty and so the families spent their evenings in front of the fire. The fireplace was essential for cooking and storing food, such as bread, which was placed in shelves on either side of the fireplace covered by wooden panels with ventilation holes.

From Podere Vignola you will be able to take advantage activities, in house cooking courses, winetasting tours, walking tours of Florence. While only within an hour drive we can also offer Canoeing, Wakeboarding, Glider and Skydiving facilities.
